????The US drilling rig count increased 8 units to reach 392 rigs working for the week ended Feb. 5, according to Baker Hughes data. The count is down 398 units from the 790 rigs working this time a year ago.
????The number of rigs drilling on land was up 10 units week-over-week with a total of 375. The number of rigs drilling in inland waters decreased by 2 to end the week with 1 unit drilling. The number of rigs drilling offshore was unchanged at 16.
????US oil-directed rigs increased by 4 from last week to reach 299 units. This time a year ago, 676 units were drilling for oil. Rigs targeting gas increased by 4 to 92 rigs, 19 fewer than were drilling for gas at this time a year ago.
????Of the major oil and gas-producing states, Texas saw the largest increase. A 7-rig increase brought the rig count to 189 for the week. Ohio saw a 2-unit increase to reach 18 rigs drilling for the week.

????Canada’s rig count decreased 3 units to 171 rigs drilling for the week. The count is 86 fewer than the 257 units drilling this week a year ago. At 95 units, Canada’s oil-directed rig count is down 3 units for the week. The gas-directed rig count in Canada remained unchanged at 76.
