据安迅思新加坡10月11日消息，韩国SK创新公司周二在一份声明中表示，该公司将在2025年下半年之前投资约1.7万亿韩元(12亿美元)在韩国蔚山建设一个塑料化学品回收利用工厂。

该工厂占地21.5万平方米，预计回收利用能力约为25万吨/年，将有三个化学品回收利用过程，即高纯聚丙烯(PP)的提取、解聚和热解。

聚乙烯(PE)/PP、聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯(PET)和复合材料可以在该工厂回收利用。

该工厂将由SK创新旗下子公司SK Geo centre运营。

《韩国先驱报》援引SK Geo centre一位官员的话报道称，该工厂将于2023年9月开始建设，建成投产后预计每年可生产约22万吨“纯塑料”。

今年1月，SK Geo centre和美国回收利用服务公司PureCycle同意在蔚山建立一个以分解为基础的6万吨/年回收聚丙烯(PP)合资工厂，计划于2024年底完工。

PureCycle拥有专利技术，可以帮助从PP塑料垃圾中分离污染物、气味和颜色，并将其转化为超纯回收（UPR）塑料。

蔚山塑料回收利用工厂是SK创新未来5年总投资目标5万亿韩元的一部分，该公司正在加速实现其净零排放目标。其中3万亿韩元将用于通过生产设施改造和扩能增加环境友好型产品的产量。

公司方面表示：“石油产品作为直接能源资源，没有替代品，因此计划在中长期内更换生产设施，并对已生产的石油产品进行循环利用。”

S Korea’s SK Innovation to build W1.7tr Ulsan chemical recycling complex

SK Innovation will invest about Korean won (W) 1.7tr ($1.2bn) to build a plastic chemical recycling complex in Ulsan, South Korea by the second half of 2025, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

The complex, which is expected to have a recycling capacity of about 250,000 tonnes/year, will be built at a 215,000sqm site and will have three chemical recycling processes, namely, high-purity polypropylene (PP) extraction, depolymerisation and pyrolysis.

Polyethylene (PE)/PP, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and composite materials can be recycled at the complex, it added.

The complex will be operated by SK Geo Centric, a subsidiary of SK Innovation.

It is expected to yield about 220,000 tonnes/year of “pure plastic”, news daily Korea Herald reported, quoting an official from SK Geo Centric. Construction will begin in September 2023.

In January, SK Geo Centric and US-based recycling service firm PureCycle agreed to build a dissolution-based 60,000 tonne/year joint venture recycled PP plant in Ulsan, slated for completion at the end of 2024.

PureCycle owns proprietary technology that helps separate contaminants, odours, and colours from PP plastic waste to transform it into ultra-pure recycled (UPR) plastic.

The Ulsan plastic recycling complex is part of SK Innovation’s targeted W5tr total investment over the next five years as it accelerates achieving its net-zero emissions goal.W3tr will go into expanding eco-friendly products through facility conversion and expansion.

“As there is no substitute for petroleum products as an immediate energy source, the company plans to change facilities in the mid- to long-term and recycle petrochemical products it has produced,” the company said.
